20th Annual Oludé Ìbejì Children’s Festival

Oludé Ìbejì (“o-lew-day”  “ee-bay-gee”) means Twins Holiday. The events of the day are dedicated to celebrating the healthy growth and happiness of all children. During this holiday for twins, we honor children and praise the return of the ancestors to earth in the form of children, especially twins.

Oludé Ìbejì stresses the importance of respecting the character of children and promoting their positive development. It is a day set aside to remember the significance of children and their role as the leaders of tomorrow.  It is also the day for children to express their gratitude for the tender love and care they receive from their family and community.  These reciprocal expressions of admiration, respect, and love in turn foster harmony (ìrepò), balance (iwon), and stability of home (ilera).
